NEGOTIATIONS are continuing on the large-scale Western Queensland property Portland Downs and the Condamine property Cotswold which were both passed in at an Elders’ auction today.

Offered by the Dutch-owned, Brisbane headquartered company GP Cattle, Portland was passed in on a bid from the floor of $14 million while Cotswold was passed in on a bid from the floor of $10m.
Both properties were passed in to Paul Zlotkowski from Darwin, who sold the Northern Territory property Wollogorang for $47m in July last year.
Cotswold was set up to background cattle bred on Portland.
Rural property agent Dick Allpass, Elders, said there had been strong post auction interest in both properties that suggested that both properties would be sold. Seven parties registered to bid at the auction, he said.
Located between Isisford and Ilfracombe, Portland covers 99,957 hectare (247,000 acres) and had been running 6000 breeders. In its heyday it ran 60,000-plus sheep.
Cotswold, a freehold aggregation on the Condamine River at Condamine, covers 7410ha (18,300 acres).
Cotswold runs from heavy Condamine River black soils to brigalow/belah country and has been used to background more than 5000 cattle on an annual basis.
It features a 1500ML water licence and five centre pivot irrigators used on about 324ha. A feedlot is also under construction.
