A DAMP Anzac Day is forecast for much of north and central Queensland with showers and thunderstorms likely for many centres.

Veterans and residents paying their respects to the fallen at services and marches throughout the region are likely to encounter wet conditions for much of the day.
Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Kimba Wong said showers were likely in coastal areas from south of Proserpine to Cairns, with heavy falls in some areas.
"South of Proserpine there is a high chance of showers with some higher rainfall totals a bit further south around the coast and a little inland," Ms Wong said.
"Moving up the coast between Bowen and Townsville and up to Cardwell and Cairns, there is a moderate to high chance of showers as well."
Ms Wong said rainfall totals of up to 10mm were expected between Bowen and Townsville, while isolated totals up to 35mm could be recorded on the tropical north coast.
"It looks likely to continue pretty much throughout the day along the tropical coast and particularly around Proserpine, which is not ideal for services, people should bring a brolly."
Ms Wong said there was a moderate to high chance of showers in inland parts, as far west as Richmond.
Rainfall may also be recorded north-west of Richmond to Normanton, through the Gulf country south of Kowanyama to Mareeba, while further south, showers are also forecast for Winton, Richmond and Longreach.
Ms Wong said the temperate would remain pretty much average for this time of year, with the cloud band keeping temperatures down.
